OSHA issues Interim Silica Compliance Guidance for stricter enforcement on October 23

OSHA has issued a memo regarding interim enforcement of the revised silica standard for construction. The final directive has not been issued and this does not replace it. As OSHA noted when it was disseminated:

“The attached document is the interim enforcement guidance for the Respirable Crystalline Silica in Construction Standard, 29 CFR 1926.1153. Effective October 23, 2017, OSHA will fully enforce all appropriate provisions of the Silica in Construction standard. The memorandum provides inspection and citation guidance, and it includes flow charts to assist compliance officers with evaluating employers’ control methods.”
