ABC of Wisconsin President John Mielke has been in a number of publications recently, including the Fond du Lac Reporter and the Wisconsin State Journal for a letter to the editor on tax reform. Here is the copy from that letter:

The recent introduction of a federal tax reform bill that calls for lower individual and business tax rates is good news for Wisconsin’s general contractors and subcontractors, whom I’ve made my mission to support over the last 25 years.

Construction jobs are vital to a robust economy. As individuals and companies start new building projects, a ripple effect of job growth is seen across the county. But despite their importance, nearly 1 million construction jobs were lost between 2006-16, and adjusted for inflation, construction workers earn five dollars less an hour compared to 1973.

Tax cuts would allow businesses and construction companies to keep more of their earnings for business expansion and job creation. This would reinvigorate Wisconsin’s communities and the people who live in them. Congress should pass them this year.
