Management Education

ABC of Wisconsin offers three award-winning multi-class certificate programs for safety management, project supervision and emerging leaders, as well as a day-long seminar on construction leadership. Classes will meet in Madison at the ABC of Wisconsin Training Center unless otherwise noted. Meals are included. Only ABC members and their employees may participate. Participants learn how to plan, organize, communicate and monitor daily activities with greater ease, while leveraging both the hard skills and people skills necessary to overcome obstacles with confidence. Participants will receive an OSHA 30-Hour card and admission to the 2020 SuperCon. The program consists of 15 sections (114 hours over 11 months) and is geared for construction site personnel with supervisory responsibilities and project management. Learn more


 The Emerging Leader program is designed to provide education for upcoming construction company professionals who want to enhance their skills. The program consists of 13 one-day sessions led by top industry experts covering construction specific topics every business professional needs to know. The program will run over the course of a year. As part of the program, participants are invited to attend the 2019 Human Resources Conference AND the 2020 SuperCon. There will also be three networking opportunities for participants to spend time with peers and other ABC members. Learn more The Safety Leader 101 program provides supervisors and other managers of ABC of Wisconsin member companies with the building blocks needed to develop safety leaders. The program consists of six interactive modules taught by industry experts, providing tools to impact the safety culture of your company. The program runs six full-day sessions over six months.  The project coordinator/assistant project manager position is a lynch pin in the construction process. ABC of Wisconsin offers a unique 6-week training program developed for project coordinators who have a few months to five or more years’ experience. This program has proven beneficial for anyone seeking to expand his or her project coordination skills, regardless of experience. It consists of six full-day sessions over six consecutive Thursdays. Critical Skills® is soft skills training developed by the construction industry for the construction industry. Critical Skills® topics are designed to generate honest and productive discussions employees and field leaders face each day. Each of the topics covers several key workforce issues facing construction and service contractors today. Learn more Great craftspeople can become great crew leaders, foremen, and supervisors, with proper support, guidance, and educational opportunities. The Construction Foreman is a one-day program that provides participants with the knowledge they need to build their supervisory skills. Learn more Those who assume the role of construction leader find it is more than a job. It is a journey of self-exploration that requires preparation and planning. Becoming a great leader will result in better performance for the entire team. In this day-long program, participants will learn the leadership skills required to become top performers. Learn more Minimize estimating earthwork risk by increasing estimating knowledge and skills. This course will teach the estimator correct guidelines for verifying quantities, adjusting soil swell and shrink, selecting efficient equipment and determining productivity using numerous real-life examples.
