Former DNR assistant deputy secretary joins Axley’s team of environmental attorneys

Axley is pleased to announce the addition of Attorney Pat Stevens to its group of environmental attorneys.

Attorney Stevens comes to Axley with thirty years of experience working on a wide variety of environmental and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining Axley, Attorney Stevens served at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (“DNR”) as the Assistant Deputy Secretary and as a division administrator. In both roles, he oversaw many of Wisconsin’s environmental programs, including those pertaining to air, water, waste and environmental cleanups. He also was involved in reviewing environmental enforcement matters for potential referral to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. In addition, he frequently interacted with the federal Environmental Protection Agency, and other states’ environmental agencies. Furthermore, he served on the Board of Directors for the Great Lakes Commission, the Executive Committee for the Environmental Council of the States, and as chair of the Wisconsin Groundwater Coordinating Council.

Prior to serving at DNR, Attorney Stevens worked for several different associations, in a variety of roles, including general counsel. He represented manufacturers, transportation builders, homebuilders and developers on land use, environmental, and construction issues. He also served as an assistant attorney general in North Dakota, where he worked on natural resource issues.
