ABC of Wisconsin member makes appearance on "Ask This Old House"

You may see a familiar face on the national television show, "Ask This Old House" during this week's episode. That's because ABC member Larry Budiac of Budiac Plumbing, Inc., Mequon, was asked to participate in the shooting of an episode this past summer.

Wisconsin apprentices qualify for national competition

Four of Wisconsin’s top construction apprentices are heading to California to compete in the Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) National Craft Championships. The four advanced after placing first in their respective trades at the ABC of Wisconsin Skill Competition and will now compete against the top craft trainees from around the U.S.

Three ABC-backed workforce bills pass through Assembly Committee

Three workforce-related bills passed the Wisconsin Assembly's Workforce Development Committee today. The committee action comes just a few days after eleven ABC members testified in favor of the bills, intended to address the construction skills gap.

ABC of WI members testify on several workforce/apprenticeship bills

ABC of Wisconsin members appeared before the Assembly Committee on Workforce Development today to support three apprenticeship-related bills, including AB 745, relating to high school seniors being allowed to participate in adult apprenticeship programs; AB 734, relating to creating individual or corporate tax deduction for apprenticeship tuition; and AB 124, relating to the marketing of employment and training opportunities to University of Wisconsin System students who do not complete degrees.

Wisconsin experiencing lowest construction unemployment on record

Wisconsin's not seasonally adjusted (NSA) construction unemployment rate was the lowest on record for the state in November, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data released by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The Wisconsin rate of 5.7 percent outperformed the previous record of 6.2 percent in November 2000 and was down 1.1 percent from November 2016. 

“Wisconsin experienced impressive improvements in construction industry unemployment in 2017," said John Mielke, president of ABC Wisconsin Chapter.
