ABC of Wisconsin holds 'Apprenticeship Signing Day' at Royal Construction in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, WI – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin on Thursday celebrated the state’s Youth Apprenticeship program and marked a milestone for a youth apprentice as he committed to an adult registered apprenticeship at Royal Construction in Eau Claire. “Apprenticeship Signing Day” featured Treyton Sloniker, a 2018 graduate of Greenwood High School who began a youth apprenticeship with Royal Construction in April 2017.  Read the rest of entry »

June construction unemployment rate down from prior year in Wisconsin

Estimated June construction unemployment rates fell in 15 states on a year-over-year basis – including Wisconsin – rose in 33 states and were unchanged in two states (Arizona and New Hampshire), according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released by ABC. The June 2018 not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate increased 0.2 percent to 4.7 percent from June 2017. OSHA seeking feedback on changes to electronic injury reporting rule

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is seeking feedback on a proposed rule regarding the tracking of workplace injuries and illnesses. According to OSHA, the proposal seeks to better protect personally identifiable information or data that could be re-identified with a particular individual by removing provisions of the 2016 Electronic Injury Reporting and Anti-Retaliation final rule. May construction unemployment rates down year over year in Wisconsin, 44 other states

WASHINGTON – Estimated May construction unemployment rates fell in Wisconsin and 44 other states on a year-over-year basis, rose in four states and were unchanged in one state, according to an analysis of U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data released today by Associated Builders and Contractors. The May 2018 not seasonally adjusted (NSA) national construction unemployment rate fell 0.9 percent from May 2017 to 4.4 percent, the lowest May rate on record. April construction unemployment rates up slightly year over year in Wisconsin

In Wisconsin, the construction unemployment rate for April ticked up slightly to 5.1 percent, a 0.8 percent increase from April 2017. Wisconsin was tied with Georgia for the 14th lowest estimated NSA construction unemployment rate nationwide in April and had the second lowest rate in the East North Central Region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin ... Fitzgerald named ABC of WI’s 2017 Legislator of the Year

MADISON, WI - Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin presented Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald, R-Juneau, with the 2017 Legislator of the Year Award on Wednesday, thanking him for his leadership on pro-construction initiatives during the 2017-18 legislative session. The award was presented by the ABC of Wisconsin Board of Directors at the association’s office in Madison.
