Hotel Indigo is a historic renovation & conversion of the 103 year-old Kleuter & Sons building and former Mautz Paint warehouse in downtown Madison — into a spectacular 144-room boutique hotel. The 93,000 square-foot design-build project included the addition of a connected, newly-constructed building. The entire concrete roof structure was removed and replaced, using a concrete shoring technique to ensure a safe and weather-tight building. The exterior brick veneer of the existing building required plenty of restoration. When demolition revealed new, previously unknown historic details, the team worked to incorporate these into the finished product, which now includes 30-different guest room designs.
