Lighthouse Pavilion

The Lighthouse Pavilion is a park facility on the city of Manitowoc shoreline. The 2,500-square-foot building has an early 20th century boathouse design, which called for construction methods not typically used in modern-day projects. The interior walls have a nautical mural painted by local artists and the exterior walls are constructed with stone sourced from a Wisconsin quarry. After design, the project was over budget, so A.C.E. Building Service provided a monetary donation and solicited donations from trade partners and other community entities to bridge the gap. A.C.E. also proposed value-engineered alternatives, including a non-conventional foundation system. The client also decided to change from an unheated to a heated structure after construction began, which required modifications to the roof and other construction elements. The contractor worked with the city on material alternatives to avoid supply chain issues from COVID-19.
