UW Health replaced a deteriorating roof and obsolete helipad at the UW-Hospital complex. Pioneer Roofing, LLC completed this large demolition and roofing project with tight site logistics, which made placement of a crane, staircase scaffolding and dumpsters a challenge. A precise schedule was followed to ensure the day-to-day hospital tasks were uninterrupted, including MRI scans running directly below the work area. Of interest, an Electric Field Vector Mapping (EFVM) system was installed to test future roof integrity. Pioneer recycled the existing roof ballast stone, rubber roof membrane and expanded polystyrene insulation, diverting roughly 10, 30-yard dumpsters from landfills.
