NAMI performed more than 62,000 work hours on the mechanical systems at the 192,000-square-foot UW-La Crosse Prairie Springs Science Center. It included installation of more than 28 semitrailer loads of equipment on a congested campus, including 6.3 miles of piping, 410,000 pounds of sheet metal, four air handlers and 543 VAV and exhaust valves. During CAD coordination, it became clear how construction would have to proceed through some tight parts of the building. Working closely with owner’s representative and project engineer, NAMI successfully completed this $14 million job under budget and on time in under 22 months.
