The Wilderness Hotel and Golf Resort came to Holtz Builders with a vision for a first-of-its-kind amusement ride in the Wisconsin Dells Area – the Take Flight Theater. This four-story steel engineered project at an existing waterpark resort consists of a 60-seat interactive theater in approximately 24,000 square feet, which required constructing the largest screen ever built in America. HBI utilized a crane to load two towers to ensure the masons could work on them simultaneously. In two and half weeks both towers, over 60’ tall, were completed. The COVID-19 pandemic created many unique problems for this unique project, including keeping a Canadian-based theater company that was essential to completing the project from coming on site after the borders were shut down. The completed project ties together high-speed doors, seats, scents and wind in perfect timing to create an ultimate guest experience.
