Milwaukee- Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin celebrates Elizabeth Roddy’s achievement as “Workforce Developer of the Year.” Roddy, ABC’s Director of Workforce Outreach, accepted the award at The Daily Reporter’s Newsmakers Banquet, held at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino on October 8.

The banquet honors individuals and companies that have made headlines throughout the year and have excelled in their field.

“We are proud to celebrate Elizabeth,” said Kelly Tourdot, ABC President. “There isn’t a day during the school year that she isn’t either at a Wisconsin school talking about apprenticeship or planning and packing for the next one. Her success can be measured by the thousands of apprentices who have gone through our program and continued their careers in construction.”

Roddy’s joined ABC 23 years ago as an education coordinator. She spent her first decade building relationships while gaining a respect for apprenticeship and the construction industry. She recognized a need to grow and expand the workforce and spent the following 13 years developing and implementing plans to help the industry effectively recruit the next generation. Today she continues her work as ABC’s Director of Workforce Outreach.

Roddy has played an instrumental role in growing ABC’s apprenticeship program, and introducing thousands of students and adults to careers in the skilled trades. She also serves on the boards of several community organizations and works to connect people of all ages to construction careers.

Today, more than 2,500 apprentices are training in ABC’s apprenticeship program, and nearly 1,000 more are in the process of becoming qualified and sponsored to enter the program. Roddy plays an integral part in the program’s growth and success.

Roddy is a graduate of UW-Whitewater. She now resides in Fort Atkinson with her husband Bryan and their children Derek and Megan.
