Skilled Workforce Courses

ABC of Wisconsin’s craft course education supports those working across the construction industry to grow and develop their skills to the next level. ABC of Wisconsin’s craft courses offer a variety of education and training programs for those at the entry level to experienced trades people. Craft courses may be offered at the ABC location or across Wisconsin at other training sites.

ACI CERTIFICATION COURSE

Employing certified team members gives you a leading edge against the competition. Certification through the American Concrete Institute provides top-level education that enhance the skill sets of your team while maintaining requirements needed for specialized projects.

The ACI Concrete Flatwork Certification is a specification requirement for numerous “big box stores”, ACI 301-10, “Specifications for Structural Concrete” includes the following language in Section 5.3.4.1: “Unless otherwise permitted, a minimum of one finisher or finishing supervisor shall be a certified ACI Flatwork Concrete Finisher/Technician or a certified ACI Flatwork Technician as defined in ACI CP-10 or equivalent.”

Certification Levels:
Concrete Flatwork Associate: This person demonstrates knowledge of proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure, and protect concrete flatwork. *

Advanced Concrete Flatwork Finisher: is a craftsman who demonstrates knowledge of proper procedures to place, consolidate, finish, edge, joint, cure, and protect concrete flatwork; requires a minimum of three years of 4,500 hours or more work experience in finishing concrete flatwork. *

*Both certifications require a passing grade of at least 70% on the written exam.

NEC ELECTRICAL EXAM PREP

Prepare yourself for the Wisconsin Electrical Examination. This course is designed to assist you in obtaining your Master, Journeyman, or Inspectors License. This two-day, 16-hour course will prepare you to take the exam with confidence. This course will provide helpful tips on reading and using the 2017 National Electric Code book and reviewing electrical principals to help you solve exam questions.  This course provides you the opportunity to take a mock exam before sitting for real exam.

Instructor: Joe Hertel, Retired Chief Electrical Engineer

Joe is a licensed Master Electrician, Commercial Electrical Inspector, and a Registered Professional Engineer with the State of Wisconsin. Joe has experience in writing state electrical exams and an expert in the electrical code. Joe has more than 40 years of electrical experience in his career and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experiences to help the next generation of electricians.

INSTALLATION & APPLICATIONS USING PVC/CPVC

ABC Wisconsin is proud to partner with Spears Manufacturing Company to offer education and training on basic installation techniques and specific applications using PVC/CPVC materials.

This course is approved by DPSC and will qualify for 3 CEU’s for licensed plumbers. This course will qualify for 3 apprenticeship unpaid related instruction hours.

Wallet training cards provided by Spears® upon completion of training.
