Milwaukee- He’s broken records as a Membership Director, hosted hundreds of networking socials and helped build a collaborative culture in Wisconsin’s construction industry. Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin (ABC) celebrates Bill Stranberg’s achievements, and his recognition as the “Industry Connector of the Year” by The Daily Reporter.
Stranberg accepted the award at The Daily Reporter’s Newsmakers Banquet, held October 8 at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino. The banquet honors individuals and companies who have made headlines throughout the year and have excelled in their field.
Stranberg has spent nearly two decades traveling the state, building relationships with contractors, and growing the Association of Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin. He was promoted to Membership Director in 2008 and has worked tirelessly to understand the struggles contractors face and provide solutions through ABC’s membership services and benefits.
This year, ABC of Wisconsin celebrated record membership, for the 12th year in a row, under Stranberg’s leadership. He surpassed 1,000 members in 2024 for the first time and has grown the association to 1,100 members in 2025. His work also includes a member retention rate of more than 90% annually.
“Bill understands the services each company needs, and ensures they are served well by ABC’s safety, apprenticeship, education and advocacy teams,” said Kelly Tourdot, ABC Wisconsin President. “With his leadership in our membership development, ABC of Wisconsin has become one of the largest ABC chapters in the nation.”
Stranberg’s influence extends to all of ABC of Wisconsin’s services. The association has record apprenticeship enrollment (at more than 2,600 apprentices), record safety contracts, and record attendance at both networking socials and ABC’s SuperCon held annually in the Wisconsin Dells.
He’s also considered a leader in association membership by ABC National and regularly trains other state chapters on best practices.
Stranberg is a Racine native, and graduated from UW-Milwaukee. He now resides in Sun Prairie with his wife Christy, and stepson Logan.
