WEST BEND, Dec. 5, 2025 — Four of Wisconsin’s leading construction apprentices have excelled in their respective trades at the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Apprenticeship Skill Competition in West Bend. These talented individuals, who secured first place in their categories, have earned the opportunity to compete at the prestigious National Craft Championships (NCC). Representing Wisconsin, they will showcase their skills alongside the nation’s top craft trainees in Salt Lake City from March 18-20.
The 2025 ABC of Wisconsin Skill Competition, held Friday in West Bend, brought together 45 competitors from six technical colleges to showcase their expertise in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. The day-long event featured a rigorous schedule, including a four-hour, hands-on practical challenge in the morning, followed by a written exam in the afternoon.
Below are the winners of the 2025 ABC of Wisconsin Skill Competition:
Carpentry
- 1st Place – Owen Spitz, AMCS, Inc.
- 2nd Place – Connor Spaeth, Northcentral Construction Corporation
- 3rd Place – Dakota Olalde, Holtz Builders, Inc.
Electrical
- 1st Place – Joseph Julga, NSI Electrical Contractors, Inc.
- 2nd Place – Charles Glewen, NEXT Electric, LLC
- 3rd Place – Peyton Reinke, Suburban Enterprises, Inc.
HVAC
- 1st Place – Joshua Clauss, Epic Systems Corporation
- 2nd Place – Blaiz Firari, Dave Jones, LLC
- 3rd Place – Brantly Pollesch, Brewer Heating, Inc.
Plumbing
- 1st Place – Matthew Kuefler, Dave Jones, LLC
- 2nd Place – Travis Cleven, Horsch & Miller, Inc.
- 3rd Place – Connor Fenelon, C&V Plumbing
“Each year, this competition gives apprentices a meaningful platform to measure their skills against the very best in Wisconsin,” said Kelly Tourdot, president of Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin. “It also allows us to see firsthand the exceptional talent driving the future of our industry. We couldn’t be prouder of every participant.”
The National Craft Championships, hosted this year in Salt Lake City, will gather top performers from across the nation to compete on the industry’s biggest stage.
