The 4,649 sq. ft. fully ADA-accessible shelter, observation deck, and gathering space was created to highlight the historic teams and players of the community’s long-standing youth athletics program and provide a safe area in the event of severe weather. Designed as both a functional facility and a tribute to the program’s legacy, the project provides a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for everyone. The shelter incorporates durable materials and thoughtful design details while also ensuring accessibility for all ages and abilities. Beyond its function as a protective structure, the space serves as a hub for community pride. The observation deck offers ideal viewing of fields and activities, while interpretive displays celebrate decades of youth athletic achievement, honoring the players, coaches, and volunteers who shaped the program’s success. The project was fully funded through generous donations and in-kind contributions, led by McCain Foods, reflecting the amazing deep value placed on youth development and recreation within the Village of Plover community. This collaborative effort between donors, Ellis Construction, local businesses, and volunteers demonstrates the power of partnership and the lasting impact of investing in shared spaces that bring people together, preserve history, and inspire future generations of athletes.
