ABC of WI SkillComp

For the past 30 years, the ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship & Training Trust has showcased the skills of top apprentices in Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing and Heat & Frost Insulation with the ABC of Wisconsin Skill Competition. These apprentices will be participating in a 2-hour written exam and a 4-hour hands-on practical exam. Winners of this competition will go on to represent Wisconsin at the National Craft Championships in Nashville, Tennessee in March.

2020 SkillComp in West Bend

When:	Friday, January 31st, 2020
Where:	Washington County Fair Park 3000 Pleasant Valley Rd West Bend WI 53095
Cost:	To help offset the cost of the competition, each employer is asked to pay a $125 competitor registration fee (which includes competitor meals).
Eligibility:	Carpentry: 3rd & 4th Year Electrical: 3rd, 4th & 5th Year HVAC: 3rd, 4th & 5th Year Plumbing: 3rd, 4th & 5th Year An apprentice can compete at the ABC of Wisconsin Skill Competition twice, unless they’ve previously taken first place.

Prizes & Scoring

Written Test: 25%
Practical Test: 75%

The top 3 in each trade will be announced at the awards presentation, with the winners receiving an award and valuable prizes from our sponsors.

Instruction Credit

Eight hours of Unpaid Related Instruction credit is given for ABC of Wisconsin’s Skill Competition (no credit is given for the ABC National Craft Championship).

Guests

The competition is open for viewing, and we encourage you to invite your family, friends and co-workers. As the competition nears, more information will be provided for guests to register.

Maximum Enrollments

Carpentry: Up to 10 Apprentices
Electrical: Up to 16 Apprentices
HVAC: Up to 8 Apprentices
Plumbing: Up to 8 Apprentices

National Craft Championship

The first-place winners in each trade will get a chance to compete at the National Craft Championships (NCC) in Nashville, Tennessee, March 23-27, 2020. ABC of Wisconsin covers the registration fee and hotel room for NCC, and we ask the employer to cover the cost of airfare.
