“To receive this award is really important to us,” said Kelly Tourdot, Vice-president of Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin. “We have a long history of working with the bureau on apprenticeship, so we are honored to receive it,” she said.

The program currently has more than 1,400 active apprentices in 12 trades attending classes at 11 technical colleges.

The award is given to the apprenticeship program(s) demonstrating achievement in apprenticeship training. To be eligible, programs must have been in operation for more than 25 years and consistently training apprentices within the past three years.

Nomination for the award was made by Tony Zignego, Project Manager/HR & Safety Director with Zignego Company, Inc., which currently sponsors 13 apprentices.

“ABC of Wisconsin is passionate about apprenticeship; not just in construction, but apprenticeship in general,” Zignego said. “This is why ABC Apprenticeship is a model program,” he said. “This is why you see ABC working closely with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards on many improvements to not only construction apprenticeship, but apprenticeship in general,” he added.
