RE: Your commitment to construction as essential in Wisconsin

On behalf of our members and their hard-working skilled craftspeople, we want to fortify your commitment to health and safety during this unprecedented health crisis.

We realize the privilege of being considered essential. Our highly-trained workforce, many of which are alumni of the state’s world-class registered apprenticeship program, are working hard literally building Wisconsin. More important is their focus on returning home safely to be with their families at the end of every workday.

Construction contractors and employees already practice a wide range of safety precautions. Construction sites are tightly controlled with safety protocols for both workers and the general public and have built in “social distancing.” During the COVID-19 emergency, contractors are taking additional safety precautions and extra care. As the situation develops, we will continue to take additional safeguards to secure and protect workers and the general public following the directives of federal, state, and local officials.

It is impossible to overstate the profound effect that COVID-19 has on us all. Thank you for your leadership and your willingness to work together to accomplish this goal. We look forward to your continued informed guidance in the uncertain times ahead. You can count on the fact that the essential work done by committed members and workers will continue safely and effectively.
