Wisconsin Dells – The Wisconsin Technology Education Association (WTEA) has awarded ABC’s Elizabeth Roddy with Special Recognition, at their annual banquet, held at the Chula Vista Resort. Roddy was selected because of her commitment to sharing the careers that can be built in commercial construction. She received her award on Wednesday, March 11.

“There isn’t a day during the school year that Elizabeth Roddy isn’t either at a Wisconsin school talking about apprenticeship, or planning and packing for the next one,” said Kelly Tourdot, ABC President. “It is admirable that WTEA recognized her excellent work to expand apprenticeships.”
Roddy’s career began 23 years ago as an education coordinator at Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin (ABC). She spent her first decade building relationships while gaining a respect for apprenticeship and the construction industry. She recognized a need to grow and expand the workforce and spent the following 13 years developing and implementing plans to help the industry effectively recruit the next generation. Today she continues her work asABC’s Director of Workforce Outreach.
Today, more than 2,500 apprentices are training in ABC’s apprenticeship program, and nearly 1,000 more are in the process of becoming qualified and sponsored to enter the program. Roddy plays an integral part in the program’s growth and success.
She developed the materials used for outreach by ABC and its members, and she has established strong relationships with tech ed teachers, community groups, and employers within the industry. She recognizes the importance of a skilled workforce, and takes great pride in introducing the construction industry as a desirable career option, with strong wages, exceptional training and high demand for skilled workers.
Anna Vitale, WTEA Vice-President, recognized Roddy’s impact as she presented the award.
“Elizabeth, you are amazing. We are so grateful for the work you have done and continue to do to support technology education,” she said. “Your commitment to helping students discover careers in the skilled trades has made a meaningful difference across Wisconsin.”
ABC celebrates this award, and is proud that WTEA sees the important work Roddy is doing to expand apprenticeship opportunities.
