Brian Wieser awarded with ABC of Wisconsin’s most prestigious award

WISCONSIN DELLS, Feb. 8, 2023 — ABC of Wisconsin awarded its most prestigious award to Brian Wieser, Wieser Brothers General Contractor, Inc. Wieser was presented with the Wes Meilahn Award at the SuperCon23, the chapter’s largest event of the year held at the Glacier Canyon Conference Center at the Wilderness Resort in Wisconsin Dells.

Brian and his brother Jeff, carpenters by trade, founded Wieser Brothers General Contractor in 1994 after going out on their own doing small residential construction jobs. Today, the family-owned firm, based in La Crescent, Minnesota, is a leader in commercial and industrial design-build services with more than 150 employees.

Located just across the river from La Crosse, Wieser Brothers General Contractor joined ABC of Wisconsin in 2006. Behind Brian’s leadership, Wieser Brothers has been active in ABC’s Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) program. Over the years, his company has been active in Projects of Distinction and is a national STEP Safety Management Program participant and is the only contractor to win the Project of the Year twice. The company has also consistently been named a Top Performer by ABC and is very active in ABC professional development opportunities for staff.

Like so many Wes Meilahn award recipients, Brian is a champion of ABC. Brian served on the chapter board and continued to serve on the Membership Involvement Committee for many years and still serves on the committee today. He is in the Beam Club Hall of Fame, which means he has sponsored more than 50 member companies into ABC. He has participated in many membership drives.

He also cares about ABC’s voice in the industry, being a significant donor to Merit Matters for electing pro-free enterprise legislative candidates to political office. He has also served on the ABC Board of Trustees and the Business Development Task Force.

His company has sponsored many events in the La Crosse area and often sponsors larger events, such as the HR & Accounting Conference.

“ABC has benefitted tremendously from Brian’s membership and passion for ABC,” said John Mielke, president of ABC of Wisconsin. “Brian believes strongly in the mission of ABC and it shows in what he does for the chapter. I’m so glad he is able to be recognized for it like so many of our other dedicated members,” Mielke said.

Each year, Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin honors an individual with the Wes Meilahn Award, which is the chapter’s most prestigious and coveted individual recognition. Wes Meilahn was instrumental in the founding of ABC of Wisconsin in 1972 and became known for his dedication, love and service to ABC and merit construction. Wes Meilahn served as chair of the chapter in 1974 and the chapter leadership established the award after his passing in 1984. The honoree is selected each year by a committee of past Wes Meilahn Award honorees.
