Buenning and Hermanson join ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Training and Trust

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Wisconsin announces the hiring of two apprenticeship managers: Bethany Buenning and Emmylou Hermanson.

“ABC of Wisconsin’s apprenticeship program is growing rapidly, and we’re pleased to add two managers who are both highly skilled and recognize the importance of excellence in the apprenticeship program,” said Michael McDonald, Director of Apprenticeship.

The ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship program has more than 2400 apprentices, with a fall 2024 enrollment of more than 600. The program trains apprentices in each of 12 distinct trades. The program aims to fill key roles in the construction industry with highly skilled workers. Apprenticeship managers guide apprentices through their program commitments and ensure they receive everything necessary to succeed in their trade of choice.

Buenning comes from the education sector with 5 years of classroom experience in the Career and Technical Education field. She has experience creating programs for students from scratch as well as assisting in retention efforts for existing programs. She believes that career and technical education is for everyone and is essential for our workforce. She is excited to assist apprentices in starting their careers through in person learning and on the job training. Buenning’s focus will include Electrical, Plumbing, Bricklaying and HVAC and she will serve as a primary contact for apprentices learning in the Madison Area Technical College, Blackhawk Technical College and Gateway Technical College classrooms.

Hermanson is a recent graduate of UW-Whitewater and an Air Force veteran with a strong commitment to workforce development in Wisconsin. Her experience includes mentoring youth apprentices, contributing to the cultivation of a skilled workforce. She is passionate about empowering apprentices through practical skills and education to support the growth and success of Wisconsin’s trades sector. Her focus will include Heavy Equipment Operating and she will also serve as the primary contact for Electrical and Plumbing apprentices attending classes at Fox Valley Technical College.

Both roles are filled effective immediately.
