MADISON, Jan. 28, 2021 — ABC of Wisconsin awarded its most prestigious award to Jay Zahn of R&R Insurance, Waukesha. Zahn was presented with the Wes Meilahn Award just prior to the ABC of Wisconsin Projects of Distinction Awards online ceremony on Jan. 28, when it was announced.
“Wow,” said Zahn. “I am deeply honored and humbled to be accepting the 2020 Wes Meilahn award,” Zahn said in his acceptance speech. “I have always been inspired by the past recipients of the Wes Meilahn award, because of their tireless commitment to ABC.”
The award is bestowed, each year, on a member who best exemplifies the type of tenacity, understanding, love and service toward ABC of Wisconsin as did former President Wes Meilahn.
“This award acknowledges Jay’s dedication and service to our chapter,” said John Mielke, president of ABC of Wisconsin. “It is individuals like Jay who make our organization strong for all our members as we represent free enterprise in construction.”
Jay was on the Membership Involvement Committee from 2007 – 2012. He was chair from 2010 to 2012. He was also on the Business Development Taskforce in 2014 and 2015. He participated in several membership drives to grow the membership. He is also a Beam club member who just achieved Hall of Fame status with sponsoring at least 50 members.
He also knows how important political advocacy is for the construction industry, which is why he is a loyal PAC contributor. He served twice on the board, beginning in 2014 and then again, over the last two years completed a vacated seat. He was board chair in 2017. Jay was also on the chapter Budget & Finance Committee from 2013 – 2016 and was Treasurer in 2015.
Jay regularly attends all major events and networking socials and his firm has been a long-time sponsor of ABC events and the Merit Shop Contractor magazine.
