About the Project

The Atmosphere is a twelve-story student living apartment building near the Kohl Center and a highly utilized southwest commuter bike path in the heart of Madison, offering relief to the student housing shortage surrounding the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. The 460,603-square-foot building features 341 units and 681 beds. The project required 19,000 cubic yards of concrete, over 1,200 ton of rebar, and over 363,000 lbs. of post-tension cabling to construct this post-tension concrete structure. The building hosts four staggered levels of parking, starting one and a half levels below grade. The lower parking levels are reserved for neighboring businesses while the top level of parking provide 97 secure spaces for residents. Amenity highlights include a rooftop courtyard with a 50-person pool, an 11-person hot tub and fire pit lounging areas, as well as an entertainment courtyard with grill stations and a 76-square-foot video wall. Student-focused amenities include study lounges, a fitness center, a yoga studio and relaxing views of Lake Mendota and Lake Monona. The eye-catching Atmosphere is a stunning building on the UW-Madison campus. It overcame multiple challenges during construction and completed on time for students to move in prior to the semester start.
