The project included multiple electrical room and data closet firestop upgrades. Firestop is primarily focused on preventing the passage of fire by providing an F-rating. However, building code also requires T-ratings which are designed to retard thermal conductivity similar to that for walls and floors. This project is distinct in the installation of T-rated firestop systems, often omitted during the original construction of buildings. The Children’s Hospital T-Rating project is a model project serving to educate the construction community on an extremely important life-safety feature.
