Cimarron Bend Operations and Maintenance Building is a design/build project for the operations and maintenance of more than 300 wind turbines on 40,000-acres operating 1.1 GW. The building has a large shop/warehouse to facilitate vehicles, machinery and wind turbines and offices for up to 15 staff. It has a concrete block tornado safe room with a backup communication system and restroom. Being 800 miles from home base and two weeks from contract signing to project start, quick mobilization and attention to detail were required for on-time groundbreaking. Other challenges included many change orders by the client and a high number of subcontractors on-site at one time.
