This beautiful new one-story, 4,655-square-foot home near Baraboo has a finished walk-out basement. It required extensive collaboration between Holtz Builders and the homeowners to ensure all expectations were met. Initially over budget, Holtz was able to substantially decrease expenses through value engineering. The contractor secured most of the products prior to experiencing price increases due to COVID-19. There were at least 17 disruptions due to sub-zero temperatures and snowfall, including delayed starts and early releases. A road ban delayed the drywall being delivered by one week. The site was extremely muddy and made deliveries difficult. Closer to spring, rain caused delays with the siding and the driveway. Despite all the weather-related delays, the team was able to stay on schedule by working longer hours and weekends. Another challenge was the construction of the massive 14-foot by 40-foot deck, which included a large cedar-wrapped covered porch.
