National Construction (now Supreme Structures) safely renovated and restored a more than 150-year-old former church into a luxury retail and event space for Faded Roots Boutique in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The project included 4,800 sq. ft. of renovation of the building formerly known as Forester Hall, which dates to 1867. The team worked directly with the architect and the building inspector to determine best practices for extensive repairs to the floor joists, wall framing, roof framing, and masonry to blend modern techniques with the historical construction. The project team maintained and restored architectural details, including a tin ceiling, arched casings, and stained glass. New windows were installed in openings that had been bricked in for decades. Approximately 50% of the interior and exterior masonry was re-tuckpointed. The old bell tower became an elevated additional sales room, accessible from a custom metal spiral staircase. Other improvements included new doors, insulation, drywall, flooring, paint, fencing, and a parking lot, plus electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. The project was completed within a firm grant- and TIF-funded budget in less than six months, allowing the business to open in its new location in time for the holiday season.
