This design build project involved a 100′ x 75′ addition to a pre-engineered metal building, featuring an unconventional wall assembly to accommodate the owner’s chosen phenolic and aluminum composite material exterior wall panels. The design prioritized the future installation of an interior crane, utilizing the internal metal building columns to maintain an open space without additional crane support columns. The remodel of the existing control department offices included a modern heavy glass wall system, enhancing visibility and aesthetics. An unused office space was incorporated into the remodel creating a modern breakroom. A comprehensive fire suppression system was installed throughout both the existing building and new addition to meet safety and code requirements due to the expanded footprint. A significant change in scope included an at grade overhead door requiring additional storm water piping and retaining wall. A new loading dock was constructed and storm piping was integrated into the design to prevent flooding in the area. This thoughtful approach ensured both functionality and compliance with safety standards. By utilizing the Hilti Total Station during the building layout stage, shooting the elevations became simpler, more efficient and accurate, reducing manpower.
