This new three-building public works complex was completed by Friede & Associates on time in nine months, despite extensive metal building supply issues and the daily challenges of a global pandemic. Metal building materials were shipped uncovered and started to rust aggressively. The steel required extensive cleaning and prepping before it could be repainted on site. The building was designed without taking into consideration the heavy rooftop HVAC units. As a result, extensive field modifications were required by the metal building erector to allow the project to move forward. The need for additional factory-supplied material delayed progress of the building erection. Other materials were discovered to be missing because they were never actually delivered by the supplier. Additional design issues surfaced with overhead doors, further adding to the erection schedule.
