Located in Sun Prairie, The Wildwood at Main offers 172 affordable apartment units. The development integrates two podium-style buildings with three stories of wood framing atop a heated underground parking garage. The exterior of the buildings features a white utility brick and Hardie panel façade with large windows allowing for abundant natural light in the units. The site offers best-in-class amenities including a club room, fitness room, playground, play berms, and an outdoor grill and fireplace area. The project was designed with sustainability in mind to achieve Wisconsin Green Built Home certification. As a design-assist project, McShane was engaged by the client during the schematic phase to offer input into the project’s design and provide value engineering services. This allowed McShane to keep the project within budget despite the project closing during a very volatile time in the market. Although McShane encountered both supply chain issues and poor soil conditions, the team was able to find creative solutions to successfully deliver the project on time with a perfect safety record.
