This 68,200-square-foot roof project at the UW-Health complex was completed by Pioneer Roofing four months ahead of schedule even though another 17,000 square-feet of roofs were added to the project. Due to UW Health’s ever expanding and more-compressed complex, onsite logistics were the main obstacle on this project. Crane use was only allowed on weekends for loading and unloading materials and crews had to work around sensitive daily hospital operations, including the UW MedFlight helicopter, which arrived and departed constantly from the rooftop helipad. Another obstacle was traffic control procedures, and the limited staging area for incoming material trucks, dump trucks and dumpsters. Pioneer worked with UW Health, designers and others to value engineer more than $150,000 off the project. In all, twenty-three roof sections were completed on time and under budget.
