The Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry office expansion project included the transformation of existing heavy industrial space to a professional office setting. The office expansion was constructed in one of the oldest portions of the building, which meant 100 years of dirt, paint and mechanical infrastructure needed to be addressed. Original early 1900’s-era building elements were incorporated with modern technologies and reclaimed building materials from area demolition projects. Sound deadening strategies such as sand filled masonry walls, sound attenuation batt insulation and an isolation membrane were used to minimize sound tansquare footer from the foundry to the new office.
