Congressman Ribble shaking hands with ABC member

[Menasha, Wis…] Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin recognized multiple elected officials for their defense of the merit shop construction industry last week at an event hosted by ABC member Faith Technologies.

Congressman Reid Ribble was presented with the “Champion of Merit” award which recognizes members of congress for their consistent support of open competition and the free enterprise system.

“As a former roofer, Congressman Ribble understands the issues our members face each and every day,” said John Mielke, ABC of Wisconsin President. “His support for the merit shop construction industry is undeniable, and we commend him for his multiple years of service in Congress.”

ABC of Wisconsin also presented three state legislators with the “Building Wisconsin” award. These legislators fought for ABC of Wisconsin members on multiple occasions during the last session, leading to numerous legislative victories. Their support of merit shop contractors is key to growing the construction industry and creating more jobs in the state.

The legislators recognized included Rep. Dave Murphy of Greenville, Rep. Michael Schraa of Oshkosh and Rep. Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac.

“Our legislators’ support of merit shop contractors and construction is invaluable to the work that we do every day for our customers at Faith Technologies,” Tom Clark, executive vice president of preconstruction at Faith Technologies, said. “When we have elected officials who understand our industry and advocate on our behalf, it benefits our employees, our customers and the economy as a whole.”

Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner and U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson were previously presented with ABC’s “Champion of Merit” award, and more than 40 state legislators have been recognized with this year’s “Building Wisconsin” award.

Associated Builders and Contractors is a national trade association, representing more than 21,000 merit shop contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, manufacturers and construction-related professionals. With more than 800 members, the Wisconsin chapter is the largest in the country. ABC members support the merit shop philosophy which stresses open competition and the free enterprise system, and they believe the best construction projects are those Built On Merit.
