HR Fundamentals Web Series - Fringe Benefits – Travel Pay, Per Diems, Bonuses

ABC of Wisconsin is pleased to offer a five-part web series on human resources fundamentals through Zoom for members this summer. The sessions, presented by ABC of Wisconsin member firms, will run on Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. beginning June 25, 2026. Attendees can register for any of the sessions for $35 each or all five for $150.

Successful employers are always looking for creative ways to attract and retain employees in this competitive market. While wages probably remain the most important component in compensation, what else might you do to differentiate your company from your competition? Many employers pay for out-of-town travel, use per diems, or use bonuses to remain competitive or gain an edge. However, some of these fringe benefits have legal requirements or ramifications. For example, some travel is considered “hours worked” and must be included in overtime calculations. Some bonuses must be factored into overtime pay calculations. This session will explore some the legal and practical details of various fringe benefits and highlight some of the recent important cases and rulings affecting this area.
