The honorees have demonstrated leadership, contributed to their community and successfully achieved positive outcomes early in their careers.

McDonald said he gets satisfaction in helping other succeed.

“Watching someone go from often, a complete novice, to a skilled and competent journeyworker, and playing a role in that, even a small role, is quite rewarding,” McDonald said.

“When they’re walking across the stage at graduation, it’s hard not to feel proud,” he added. “And when they come up to you afterward and shake your hand and thank you, there’s no better feeling.”

“This award is incredibly well-deserved,” said Leigh Emrick, ABC of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Director. “Michael is integral to our success because of the leadership he brings to the team. I’m very proud of him,” she added.

The event was held on YouTube by The Daily Reporter as a result of COVID-19.

“This year’s event honors the great men and women who spent their careers building the industry and those who are shaping the future of construction,” said  Joe Yovino, associate publisher/group editor of The Daily Reporter.
