W.O.W Web Series – Words of Wisdom from Women in Construction
This four-part web series was designed for anyone in the construction industry interested in expanding their knowledge base from people who have unique experiences in the industry. Expert leaders share knowledge across a variety of topics from leadership and work-life balance to tips on success on impacting safety and business ownership. This is an education series not just for women but for all those who want to make change within the industry environment to support the current workers, and recruit and retain the next generation.
Cost: $30 per session; $100 if you register for all 4

  • June 8 – Amanda Kurt, Vice President & Managing Partner, Kurk Concrete, Inc.
    Secrets of a Working Mom in Construction (1 of 4 sessions)
    Being a mom in the construction industry can often make you feel as if you can’t. This session will provide you information on how you CAN! Spoken from the experience of a working mom in construction, Amanda will discuss how she balances the demands of site and family. Attendees will learn how to cope with the demands of being a working mother in a male-dominated field, along with finding support amongst our shared experiences through group discussion.

    From Apprentice to Owner: Lessons Learned Along the Way
    Some of the most important lessons in life are the lessons we learned while leading our lives and building our career.  Jess Cannizzaro will share her experiences, mistakes, and lessons learned along the way on her journey to becoming a successful business owner of a plumbing company.
  • July 13 – Sarah Fecht, Best Self Leadership
    Becoming a Person of Influence
    Whatever your vocation or aspiration, you can increase your impact on others by becoming a person of influence and building deeper connections. Learn simple, insightful ways to interact more positively with others, and become the unifier and connector at your organization. Creating positive influence will not only be a catalyst to your own success, but it will also become the legacy you will leave behind. During this session you will be lead through the principles of influence:

  • July 27 – Kelly Stacionis, Safety Manager, Holtz Builders, Inc.; Kayla Fonseca, Regional Safety Manager, Faith Technologies, Inc.
    The Soft Skills of Safety
    Whether educating workers about potential hazards on the job site, explaining safety procedures to new employees, or directing people during an emergency, safety professionals need to know how to communicate clearly and persuade people to change their behaviors. Utilizing soft skills that recognize the human aspect deliver more results when it comes to changing safety behaviors. This session will discuss the impact soft skills have on influencing safety decisions that drive positive results through examples and situational scenarios.
