Don’t Wait Until November to Get to Know Your Legislators

This year all of Wisconsin’s Congresspeople and State Representatives, and half of its State Senators are up for reelection. Legislators respond best to the people they represent. The election is November 4th, but there are things you can do now to directly advocate for the needs of your business and employees. Here are some things you can do to make an impact:

  • Stay Informed. In addition to the Building Influence, please visit the national and Wisconsin ABC web page for additional information. Also consider downloading the ABC Action app (available on Apple or Android) to learn about elected official’s voting records and get detailed briefs on important ABC issues.
  • Talk to your Employees. Take the time to communicate how certain policies may make it harder for them to do their jobs or pay for health insurance. This could also be a good opportunity to remind them about the fringe benefits they receive from the company.
  • Plan an office tour or schedule a site visit. Both are excellent ways to show elected officials how their actions impact your business. Contact John Schulze at jschulze@abcwi.org to coordinate.
  • Email or call your elected officials. Let them know how you feel about the issues that affect you and your business. Go here to find out who your elected officials are http://maps.legis.wisconsin.gov/
